This Saturday was supposed to be a beach day to celebrate my college graduation, but the gray skies had other plans for us…it rained literally ALL day. Actually, the weather was the same on Friday–my graduation ceremony was at 1:30, sandwiched between two all-out downpours!
There were 850 graduates at my ceremony (1 of 5 ceremonies that my university held that weekend!) so my walk across the stage to shake the university president’s hand went by fast! We planned to go out for pizza after the ceremony, but with the rain and terrible traffic my family decided to meet up later at me and Garrett’s place to hang out and celebrate.
Saturday morning, me and Garrett headed to Babies-R-Us to enter a raffle and do some window shopping. Unfortunately, when we got there we found out they had raffled off a ton of items periodically throughout the morning, and we were just in time for the last one (which we didn’t win). Fail!
The good news was that there was a huge sale going on, so we picked up a few things for baby at 40-50% off. That made up for missing the raffles!
It was lunchtime by the time we checked out of Babies-R-Us, so our next stop was Whole Foods for a quick bite to eat.
The spinach artichoke pizza was amazing! And Honest Tea is on sale right now + use a coupon from the Whole Deal flyer (last month’s edition–ask for a copy at Customer Service) = pay just $0.50 each! Or $0.40 if you buy a case.
Soon we were on the road again, this time headed to The Florida Aquarium!
Where we live, members of Crunch Fitness get 50% off a day’s admission to the aquarium, so we both got in for about $20! Score!
It had been 10+ years since either of us had been to the aquarium, so we explored the whole place and took tons of pictures.
I love that there’s more than fish at this aquarium; we saw alligators, owls, ducks, otters, and reptiles in the Wetland Trail.
There’s a giant fish tank down there!
It’s hard to tell from the picture, but this little guy had the cutest “smile” on his face 😀
The aquarium was closing early for a special event, but we got to see pretty much everything before moving on.
We had heard so much about the Oxford Exchange we were dying to check it out, and it was close to the aquarium so we went there next. It was cold and rainy–perfect weather for tea and coffee! The Oxford Exchange is a specialty tea and coffee shop, with a bookstore, restaurant, and a store with handmade goodies.
The whole place is as wide as a city block, so you can walk in on one street, walk across the building, and walk out on the next street. The bookstore is on one end, the handmade goods store on the other, and the tea/coffee/food/study area in the middle.
Check out the handmade, crocheted baby hats, blankets, and gowns! I wanted to get them all!
We explored here for a while before heading out. We had a friend’s graduation dinner to go to, and we also killed some time at a bike shop. It was the busiest Saturday I’ve had in a long time and we had a blast!
Hope your Tuesday is going well! Be back later for a delicious Artichoke Lemon Chicken recipe!
