Hi friends! Today’s eo rockstar is Arborvitae (Thuja plicata), a beautiful tree found in Canada. Native Americans used its wood to build all kinds of things including vessels, totem poles, and baskets. Interestingly, when an Arborvitae tree dies, it can remain on the forest floor for many years without decaying (hence its nickname!). Seedlings even begin to sprout on its trunk, which helps them get off to a good start.
Arborvitae has a strong, distinct aroma – woodsy, warm, and rich. It is a natural insect repellant, and helps preserve wood surfaces.
During prayer, meditation, or other quiet times, I like to diffuse it for a sense of peace and calm. Only use 1-2 drops to start, it is really strong!
It also helps protect against environmental and seasonal threats, making it a favorite during all year long.
Here are some more benefits and usage ideas:
-Powerful cleansing and purifying agent
-Apply to wrists and ankles while hiking.
-Add a few drops to a spray bottle with water and spray on surfaces or hands for a protecting solution.
-Diffuse to purify the air.
